Question RE BNs

I just got 4 new BN for my new set up.
I kept BNs before, for some reason I think these guys might be overdoing it on chowing on the wood.
I clean up a handful of chips every day, and this is manzanita wood.

LOL, not my first day keeping fish, but thank you they are wood shavings.
My thought at first that since I didn't sand blast the wood, maybe they are just easily removing the soft tom layer with some bark, i usually keep malaysian wood, but this time went with Manza.

They do hang out and munch on the wood, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

It's normal. My plecos in the 100g shred new driftwood to the bone. It helps with your water, so I leave them in there unless they look super sharp.

EDIT: good gods, yeah, 4 bn would MASSACRE your wood if it still has bark on it haha.

I just hope they just do the soft bark and not go further.

I have mopani in with my BNs, and they don't seem to be doing any noticeable damage.
