Fishfriend, if you really want to rehome your goldies, post an ad in the classifieds section. We have a LOT of members from PA, and I am sure there is someone out there that can help you out with giving them a home. A lot of our members have beautiful ponds, and that is the best environment for a comet. Without a very, very large tank, comets really do not make good tank fish. They are more suited to ponds.
The parasites that rosy reds can carry can also sicken other fish, like your cichlid. Make sure to quarantine your feeders - I have seen before where people have bought feeders abd they have carried diseases that have killed the fish they were feeding. There are a lot of alternatives to live food.
