Ok because it seems to shoot a lot of tiny bubbles into the tank. I have a Red Sea Max 34 gal tank.

I run my skimmer all the time. I still don't understand how some run without one or just part time, especially with anything more than a light fish bio load. My same system, I used to use Caulerpa in the fuge with no skimmer and could not keep Nitrates lower than 40ppm. Now I use an Octopus NW 200 SKimmer and chaeto in the fuge and the nitrates are 0ppm all the time.

I don't know if this is due to a better macro algae and/or good skimmer. I do know that 24hrs of my skimmate/sludge is something I don't think should stay in the tank.

it is up to you.. personally i don't like microbubbles in my tank

I am assuming you are talking about the skimmer thats built into the red sea max.

Check out this thread at RC, and see what the people say on how to "tune" your skimmer to help with the microbubbles..

Skimmer runs 24/7 on our tank.

I'm not a fan of microbubbles myself, so I'd do what I can to eliminate them.

24x7 here, my skimmer is in the sump and I don't have a problem with microbubbles.
