glasscages.com has good prices(I think...) on acrylic tanks. 110 for a 50, 125 for a 65. Less than I've seen other places anyhow. Can be delivered, or picked up in White Plains on Aug 18 at the reptile show. http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=41

You can also consider ordering from glasscages.com. They sell all over the country and you basically have to go get the tank when they are in the area. One of their most frequent stopping places is the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY. It is about a 45 min drive out of the city. Check out their site at http://www.glasscages.com/ to find out the dates they are there.

Hey,
Wanted to update all who assisted me in my quest for an acrylic tank in NYC. I ordered a 65 galon tank, canopy and stand from glass cages. Great price and I pick it up in White plains. :)

an update for the brooklynites... I visited both 1000 Isalnd Aquarium and World Class Aquarium today, to see what they were all about. Both were well stocked in the salt water category, and had very large selections of tanks... but neither was very well stocked for freshwater. 1000 Island was HUGE. they had a lot of MASSIVE tanks, including one that was about the size of an elevator car, with round corners. very impressive tanks.

Another item of possible interest to those in Brooklyn:

I just gave away 2 large catfish, and the person who got tham happens to own a LFS in Brooklyn. It's not currently open, as they are in the process of moving to a location with more space. I was told they used to be primarily saltwater, but part of the reason for the move was to expand the freshwater selection--they'll have close to 500g for freshwater in their new location. They're near Coney Island, and should re-open by the end of the month.

I'll post their new address when I get it, if you're interested. The owner seemed like a very nice guy, who was involved in the hobby before opening his store.
