I used to have another for several years, but sadly she passed away. She was best friends with my Laser cory, so I thought it fitting to get another Peppered cory. They get along great.
Stress can weaken the immune system, and being in improperly sized groups increase stress. One should have at least a half dozen cories, preferably, of each species, which is problematic with that tank size. You'll get better behavior and healthier fish. How long has the tank been established?
i agree. upgrade your tank and get more i always had at least two and when I added 4 more they were even happier and more comfortable. they love being in groups for feeding and grooming eachother. Also those C. paleatus can get pretty large, I saw one at my LFS that was around 4.5 in. I have one who is close to 3 in
