I used to have another for several years, but sadly she passed away. She was best friends with my Laser cory, so I thought it fitting to get another Peppered cory. They get along great. :)

Stress can weaken the immune system, and being in improperly sized groups increase stress. One should have at least a half dozen cories, preferably, of each species, which is problematic with that tank size. You'll get better behavior and healthier fish. How long has the tank been established?

i agree. upgrade your tank and get more i always had at least two and when I added 4 more they were even happier and more comfortable. they love being in groups for feeding and grooming eachother. Also those C. paleatus can get pretty large, I saw one at my LFS that was around 4.5 in. I have one who is close to 3 in
