I was close pals with the owner of a local shop since I was a kid.
As the years went by and Wally got older (I stayed the same age) he grew fond of an alley cat and named her Ashely. Eventually he let her stay in the shop full time and she became the shop's mascot. When he retired he could hardly take care of himself and I adopted little Ashley kitty and brought her home.
I never thought I'd be much of a cat fan, but for us she's worked out well.
She knows when we sit down for breakfast and dinner, eats with us and never begs or carries on about food, she picks up her toys when she's done with them and let's us know when she leaves litter in her box. She's as self sufficient as an animal could be and great company. Granted, she sleeps a lot nowadays because of her age, but even at that, if we move from the living room to the game room, she relocates with us and goes back to sleep beside us.
I've heard people say that cat's are difficult to train, but it was never an issue for her. She caught on quick and never varies from her routine.
Truly glad to have her aboard.
