Is clarity a flocculant? Sort of clumps up the "cloudy bits" into a soft but maybe vacuumable mass or possible mess. I've only used that sort of thing in the pool, not sure I'd use it but I know you're feeling kinda desperate.

Glad you fixed the surface scum anyway.

The Quick filters have a micron type sleeve, not as porous as sponge, looks more like felt.

the green water is still an issue
so will a micron filter remove the algae from the water?

i started the blackout today, keeping my fingers crossed.
i have a friend that has a willow tree in his backyard and i'm gonna heist some branches from his tree maybe the two will work together.
planning on getting a uv sterilizer as soon as i get a decent paycheck.

how big is your red tail? i had one that reached 12'

The quick filter says it can get down to 1 micron particles, I don't know how big green water algae is, probably not that tiny. I used it when I took out my UGF & in my "diatom" tank. I also have a big sheet of 50 or 100 micron pad that can be cut to fit, I haven't used any yet.
