What would they need a hood for? Are you just buying fish left and right and tossing them into tanks or what? Im getting thar feeling from all your recent posts

yes, i would put a lid of sorts on the 10 gallon tote. cories tend to zip to the water surface for air and can easily 'overshoot the runway', so to speak, and come right out of the container, especially if it is a shallow one.

Um i got replacements and put them in quarentine. I dont buy fish left and right i buy fish that are on my stock lists. Thanks you very much.

as long as the holes in the eggcrate are smaller than the fish, IMO. heck, saran wrap will work.
