The acintic bulb that came with the fixture is causing way too much algae growth. I wanted to see if anyone knew the answer to this before I take it apart. Thanks

You must use two lamps in the fixture. One lamp can burn out and the other remain running. but if you remove the second lamp entirely the other lamp will go out.

Well I have T-5 HO that works with only 1 bulb working or not in the slot. But my Coralife T-5 NO doesn't. I guess it's something about the ballast.

What would it hurt to remove or slightly unscrew your actinic & see what happens? Then you'll know.

Depends on how the fixture and ballast are setup. My Odyssea 48" twin tube T5HO would operate with just one lamp installed.
