It's a sad turn of events. I guess the male will have to be without a mate until I can find another female.

no idea. I just found her floating belly up. I remember they like to sleep this way but when I went to touch her, she didn't move.

are males more common than females? I would guess yes if they have such "weaponry" and armor for combating other males. multiple males sparing for the few females.
