Here's some pictures of the new guys I picked up today..at least those who'd let me take their pictures (notice no shrimp pic yet ;)).

This guy is just plain busy. He started grabbing any kind of algae he could and shoving it in his face:

Always wanted one of these:

Thought this was a cool shot over a few corals and through the algae:

Got about 10 of these guys now. Lil' red leg hermies. This guy has been eating around the bush, so to speak:

Total change of subject, I have tons of these guys. I think they're little stars of some sort, but they could just be worms or something:

My frogs are finally making a comeback, too:

Anyway...just excited and had to share.
:)

beautiful pics and inverts :)

My son wants an emerald crab but meanie me won't let him get one. Visitors to your home are going to freak when they see the sand sifter's arms coming out like that..ha. I'm guessing the one star is a mini brittle star.

Yeah, I think so too. I have hundreds of those little guys in my rocks. Which is pretty cool.

Why no emerald?

I had a few little spots of bubble algae. One popped, and now I have a rock with tons of it. I almost should have gotten two of the little guys.

Algae eaters are definitely not going to have food shortage issues for some time. ;)

I've heard too many stories of them attacking fish (even saw a pic of one nabbing a tang) once they get bigger. Also, they're not real picky on whether they are eating algae or coral polyps. After taking our hermits (stone cold killers in my tank) back 2 weeks ago I have only relented on a porcelain crab.

Now, don't take this to mean yours will attack fish and be hell on crabbie feet. They're just too opportunistic for my own personal tastes.

Yeah, well, if he can catch a chromie he can have one...as long as he eats my bubble algae. ;)

ha good luck i have 3 in one tank and 2 in the other and they eat any algae BUT bubble algae it seems! they haven't touched the coral at all tho.
i haven't seen any signs of aggression from mine, outside of waving their claws at fish that get too close. i have a firefish that has been banished to the bottom of the tank beside a rock (by my clowns) so he'd be an easy target and they never have bothered him... my big one has grabbed my GBS fighting over a silverside, the star didn't mind too much tho, he still got the food :)

I didn't realize you have a green brittle star. Have you had any troubles with it going after small fish?

nope not at all, and it's pretty big too. i keep him well fed, he loves shrimp pellets (if he can nab one before the nass snails and fire shrimp!) and eats the heck outta silverside (have to hand feed him those). he's grabbed a few snails on accident during feeding time but always drops them. the firefish would be the most likely fish food for him but again he's never tried to eat him - or not yet at least.
