Hello, we were at the fish store and were going to pick up some filter media, some carbon to be specific... but they were out, however they did have AquaClear Zeo-Carb.. so we grabbed some of that. Now that we are home and were about to put it into the tnak we noticed that it says "For freshwater use only"

Just wodnerign what effects, if any this would actually have on a brackish tank.

Thanks.

I only use carbon for removing meds. Not really necessary otherwise. Do not use ammonia-removing products in your tank, it will starve out the bacteria you need.

I have both commercial and personal set up's. I never use carbon in any tank unless to remove coloration from medicine. In my commercial set ups, I have nothing but hydro sponges and the tanks a crystal clear(too bad my pictures don't come sooo clear:( )

I use carbon in all my tanks. Wouldn't run without it.

Not wasting any money at all. There are items in my well water that I do not want there and the carbon removes them. Most folks do not need it.

I have spent many years as engineering lab tech for water chemistry control and have the ability and equipment to test my water. I prefer to run it and it is not a waste, IMO and in chemical fact.

Even without the chemical tests, the carbon also clears up the discoloration our local water supply has.

It may be seen as a waste of money for some, but it should never be expressed as not required for all.

Yes. I have full lab capabilities here at home, as stated above. We have some minerals here that I do not care for and the carbon pulls them out. And a reddish tint that is not pleasent. The water also has a bit of an odor, which is odd for this area since it is in the sandhills of NC.
