Man I'm so upset right now.. I've only had the fish since last Friday, I even saw her once yesterday when I was counting noses (at feeding time).. She didn't eat a ton, but she was swimming ok, etc. But today at feeding time this morning.. nothing.. So I moved a couple of pieces of rock where she hides out.. Nope.. So I have been watching the tank today (lucky I have a few days off since the schools are completed) and just watched. No pygmy anywhere..

So I decided, if she's gone I should have raised parameters right? Wrong. Everything in line. Amm - 0, Ites - 0, Ates < 5 (I'm guessing 2.5 as the color was between).. Well being upset I decided to do more digging.. Looked in the overflow, checked the sump, heck I even took apart the skimmer and return pump looking for blue scales, fins something, anything. Nothing.

So I dug futher, eventually had all my rock out of my tank.. She is nowhere to be found.. Man this sucks. My first loss with this tank.

My only hope is that my cat hasn't learned how to fish..

wow there should be some trace of her somewhere. Sure she wasn't IN the rocks you were moving?

No.. I turned over each piece of rock, look in any hole she could have fit in.. I thought of that as well..

Sounds like your clean up crew might have it handled it. So sorry Clown, I liked Shirley.

Yeah.. I did too.. Thats why I ripped the tank apart.. This was one of those, "I plan on buying fish".. Man I'm so mad I could scream.

Fish, especially SW fish, can hind in the smallest holes. I would not have torn apart the tank looking for it so soon. Would have at least waited a few more days, the fish might still be in one of the holes.

Unless you have an army of scavengers it is unlikely that the "Body" is completely gone. Also it may have jumped out. Do you have a cover??
