Bellevue Oh
i have a 10gal w/1 male betta, 8 ghost shrimp and i just got a golden apple snail about 2 or 3 hrs ago. i put him in the tank and he has just sat on the bottom i can see his "tentacals" for lack of a better word sticking out, but he has not started crawling around yet is there a problem? is there anything special that i need to do? thanks for all the answers.

he is probably fine i got mine 2 days ago and they took 10 mins to come out, but they were posted to me in cotton wool so needed a drink lol.

mine close up for an hour or so during the day, its probably just resting or aclimatising its self. (my bad spelling)

He's fine. I wouldn't worry for the next couple days. he will probably start exploring soon, but leave the lights low, and he will feel more at home sooner.

as long as you start to see him actively moving in the next day or so he is fine.

Check your water!

Mine don't like it when the nitrates get to high.

First of all, they are fairly inactive during the day compared to their nighttime activity level.

Secondly, he will likely sit there for a while. That's normal. He just got put in a new environment with different water. He'll definately sit still for a while if you didn't acclimate him. As long as your water is fine, he'll be fine I'm sure. I've never had a snail die from being moved to a different tank.

thanks all he's doing fine and wondering around the tank now. and thanks for the info about the bettas eatin their eyes i'll keep an eye out for it.
