Drum Kit and Aquarium??

I have a 10 gallon aquarium in my bedroom. I also have a 5 piece acustic drum kit. I know that sound effects fish if you are fishing, so I was wondering if playing my drum kit for a while every day would stress my fish. If it tells you how loud they are, mmy best friend lives in another subdivision next to mine. She knew that I play Down With The Sickness on the drums, but didn't know where I lived. She came to school one day and told me that there was someone in her subdivision playing DWTS on the drums and that they were really good. I invited her down to compare it and she said that it sounded the same as what she heard. So after she went home I called her and asked her to stand outside and I will play the drums, then I asked her to call me back if she hears it. She did, so I am pretty sure that she can hear me that far away. Pictures have shaken off the wall in my house, so I am sure those vibrations are going into the aquarium. So do you think this will stress a fish?

I like to think fish have a natural sense of rhythm. Just make sure you're in tempo every time so your fish can groove and your girly can swing.

HA HA... first off, congrats on getting a drum set and being able to rock! :)

secondly... There are many view that even playing music, or watching a movie too loud can harm your fish.. on those views, i think its ok... But with drums... I think that may be a bit too much. You should try moving your tank in another room. Yes you can still hear the drums but its not as intence as if it were in the same room. With your drums and your tank in the same room, I bet that even your water vibs to the base drum. ;) I'd suggest moving the tank to another room.... Or the drums.. wichever is eaiser.... ;)
 
Fish are bass heads, if the music/sound has little bass the fish don't care, sharp midbass and especially footfalls on timber floors is most stressfull. I've got a 15'' sub 2' away from my community tank that I really have to push hard to get any reaction from my fish, yet I can misstep or drop a screwdriver on the floor and the fish freak.

It's not the sound itself that's bothering them--it's the evidence that you're a klutz. You control their universe, and nobody likes to hear God say, "oops!" It makes them uneasy about the future.
