I read that when cons spawn, it is good to feed them freshly hatched baby brine shrimp a few days after they are born. I've been told its not necessary but I would still like to know how it is done and where do you get the supplies needed for the process? Also how much of it do you feed the fry and do you just drop them in?

you can find the BBS eggs at petsmart. follow the directions.

when feeding..remove bbs and filter (I use paper coffee filters) rinse well and feed via turkey baster to the fry.

Brine Shrimp

Raising Brine Shrimp is very easy. You need to get brine shrimp eggs and aquarium salt from your LFS. I use inverted 2 liter pop bottles with about the bottom 4 inches cut off. Place the inverted pop bottle with the cap on, onto the peice that you cut off. Fill the bottle up with water about 3 inches from the top and follow the directions on the egg package as to how much shrimp and salt to add. Temperature should be around 80 to 82 degrees. You will also need a air pump and air stone for airration. You want the air to circulate the eggs. If done correctly you should have brine shrimp in about 20 to 24 hours. When ready to feed turn off the air supply and place a light at the bottom of the pop bottle and wait 10 minutes. Use a turkey baster to siphon out the shrimp into a brine shrimp net. Rinse under fresh water and feed to your fish. You want to feed your fish enough so you see there belly's turn orange. Hope this helps.

bbs for baby fish?lol onley if yer made out of cash. my convects, labs, and red devils all went thru spawning (not at the same time) get a coffee grinder (bud buster style) and put pellets into it or flake, powder it up into a fine dust and feed that to the babies. fish are fish no matter what size they will eat it, Ive had amazing sucess rates with my fish doing this. btw you will be luckey if the parents dont attack the cloud of bbs when ya fire em at the babies.
