I've tried one of those from Red Sea and it was no good water, full of organic polutants. my xenia and few other soft corals got sick when I used it once. took me few normal (mixed myself) water changes to get my tank back to normal. but the company on that box is Petco, so maybe it'll be different
no one is going to say anything about taking water from the ocean? i mean do we really have to? :shakehead: people are already complaining about the reefs. just one more opportunity to take a potshot at the hobby. yeah, it's a renewable resource but... again do we have to?
I'll be the dissenter here. I get my RO and Salt Water from the LSF. I pay about $1 a gallon for the salt and $0.50 a gallon for RO.
I go through about 5 gallons a week of the salt and 1-2 gallons of RO a week. I figure I spend about $6-7 a week in salt.
I actually like doing it that way since it gives me an excuse to go to the fish store. I go about once a month and pick up what I need and usually do some more shopping as well.
I just figured that it would since the paramiters were all in line in stead of waiting for everything to fall into place. Wouldnt that be speeding it up? I'm new to this boxed water I just hated mixing 5 gal buckets of water I bought 11 boxes at petco when they were on salefor 8 bucks a box.
