So after waiting FOREVER for my Penguin 350 filter to arrive from www.aquariumguys.com I open it to find it broken. Since they think I should have to pay to return a defective product I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it at home. Any suggestions?

The biowheel is fine by the way.. just was crooked when I took the picture.. it is just the broken plastic where the water flows down... Will super glue kill my fish?

No, provided it is well cured before submerging it.

Looks like that crack is far enough down that it wont leak out of the tank.. If thats the case, I would leave it be *& use if (assuming you can click it back straight.

otherwise, I agree, my understanding is that SG is fine once completely cured..

You can fix it, or leave it as is, since I doubt it would spill out of the tank like it is, but I would personally get it fixed.

I would call and ask for a manger and try to get them to pay return shipping. I fully realize that its likely that marienland or the UPS guy broke it, and not them, but if they sold it, they need to stand behind their product.

You may also be able to contact marineland directly, and they might just ship you a new housing.

Well I just put in the tank as is.. it works fine. I haven't decided whether to superglue it or not.. because it would be easier now (since it is clean) than would be later if it breaks off. I don't really want to send it back because I don't want to wait (want my tank to start cycling). I suppose it is just a cosmetic flaw (just sucks cause I bought it new).

Go to your nearest Petsmart or Petco with box and everything and tell em its broke they will exchange it with a new one.

Thats what I was thinking too....since your not wanting your money back you wouldnt need a reciept to swap it ;)

Its fine. Just use tape to hold it together then silicone it so where it lays flat. Then remove the tape. Not a big preoble.
