New Roman Column Tank!!!

Oh, and I would probably put a background and maybe mix in just a bit of black into the pink gravel to brake up the color, becuase it is a bit harsh on the eyes, but just a few specs of black shold help brake it up and make it easier to focus on the fish

Good idea! I think mixing in a bit of black gravel would look nice, too.

just a thought but wouldent naturally coloured sand look even better?

and call me crazy but if you smashed up that decor into 3 or 4 pieces you could half bury them in the sand giving an Roman ruins kinda theme...

just a thought :)

I have those in my 29, I love them there was a statue of the god of Neptune I wanted to get to add also...but I had already spent to much on other things I had to have I didn't get but I probably will end up with it before long, I still need a background also...but here is mine if you'd like to see it:

What's the matter with you people? This person picked out stuff they liked for their tank, meaning they're taking time and effort to spend on their tank. If they like it, more power to them. Do you really think the fish care? I can't believe how rude some of these posters are! Not even constructive criticism! I personally think way to go on not picking the typical boring color gravel- I like the red! I hope you continue enjoying and working on your tank. Good work so far!

Agreed...It's probably easier to just hit the "Back" button and move on rather than tear into someones hard work.

Great job...I'm sure your fish will love it.

Cool! One thing I have discovered after looking at a lot of tanks is that when you add the plastic decor's it seems to be more important to hide the hardware. Can you put the heater in the bottom, center back of the tank mounted horizontally, behind the columns? Also..have you seen the glass lakes/rivers? It is simply a piece of glass positioned on the bottom of the tank, with the top of the glass flush with the gravel...then you put an airstone under the glass at one end and it gives the impression of a flowing river....I think would be a nice touch to your setup.

Looking forward to seeing pictures.

I personally would prefer if people told me what they really thought about my tank rather then blowing smoke up my tail pipe. This tank needs work. Sorry.

I like the submerged ruins theme...have been thinking for a long time of a couple of similar things. One, a "Machu Picchu" kind of thing with Amazon fish, and the other (I know it sounds weird but I think it could be cool) a simulated drainage ditch with broken clay water pipe. A kind of, "thousands of years ago, people lived here, but now the waters have closed in and Nature is taking over" theme.

Good job...don't listen to these nimrods. Cool is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't like your stocking. ;)

The OP obviously likes it and while I personally prefer natural looking tanks, I think it looks good and the bottomline is that if they like it, that's what matters. What tank doesn't need work? I haven't quit working on any of mine. It takes an open mind to appreciate something that differs from your favorite niche.

To the OP... :welcome: to AC! I can't wait to see updates when it's stocked!

The same thing goes with different equiptment preferences, or the stock of our fish. It's funny, the whole reason we get into this hobby is that we have the opportunity to create our own underwater environment.

Very Cool I like the pillars. I also like this suggestion:
