I have 3 non-dyed jellybean parrots. They beyond a doubt are part pink convict. I also have a male convict and hes a real jerk....BIG TIME!!!! Im curious if there are any fish that can be safely housed with a jellybean parrot. Like another cichlid or something to be used as a dither fish. I don't want anything that gets to much beyond 6 inches if at all possible, but I just don't know if it is a good idea. They all seem to not to to picky at one another I have had them for about 2 months now. I took out the male convict I have and put it into its own tank ..... ALONE! He continues to eat all his wives as soon as they have more kids. I was concerned about him hurting the others, but I did think about trying to re add him back into the population...Still not to sure about that. Any thougts?

There really is no such thing as a "jellybean" parrot. That's a name pet stores give to dyed parrots. How are you so sure they aren't dyed? Granted not all parrots are red, some can be lighter, but I'm skeptical. I also highly doubt they are part convict.
Some good cichlid tankmates are severums. Might want to check them out....

She's correct, jellybean parrots are a smaller hybrid of a parrot and a convict cichlid, they are not just a dyed parrot.

Can you post a pic of your jellybean parrots? I have been convinced that I have a jellybean parrot/convict but everyone says its a Sev. haha but in any case I had a male convict with a sev. and this other so-called Sev. along with Buenos Aires tetra, red eye tetra, platy, swordtails. I too ended up putting my male con in a tank alone because it nipped at my platy and swords but I do believe it left the tetra alone (tetra nip at each other anyway). I then got a female con for the male but a few days later the male had killed the female (the female had no babies at the time). I didn't like having my male con in the big tank though because it was ALWAYS hiding in a cave and that is no fun to watch.
