I currently have a 55 gallon tank with a small saddleback clownfish and a purplish brown serpent star. I plan on getting a dwarf puffer and coral beauty. Is the tank overstocked? Will there be nipping? Would the starfish be screwed in this situation.

Ugh I meant a toby.
well, there are several puffers commonly reffered to as tobies, though its probably the saddlebacked/valentini puffer. can you give us a more specific name, possibly the scientific name or a good description?

Well I'm not sure what species to get. I hear their care requirements are about the same. I'm stuck between a blue dot a saddle puffer or a pink spot.

mmmm..... from what i've heard from people who keep the species, it is always a bit of a gamble introducing one. some eat inverts, some dont; some bother other tankmates, some don't. if you really want one you could try it, but be prepared if it doesnt work out, and if you do get one make sure to keep him well-fed and watch him (and your other fish) carefully, and remove him if you see any signs he's been causing trouble (e.g. bites in your other fishes fins, bites in your brittle stars arms)

I have oneof the blue spotted puffers and so far my experience hasn't been overly bad.

The only thing that my puffer has gone after is a couple of little mini brittle stars that I dropped in the tank. Besides that, I haven't seen him go after any of my other inverts or fish.

I also have a 55 gallon tank and he seems to do great in it.
