Octopus tank (log)

big pic

you can only see 6 arms in the pic but dont worrie they'r there. :) (behind him in the pic)

yester day i was checking on his 3 litle arms and got worried because i couldnt see one. turns out i couldnt see it because it got so big! lol. i also saw him ink for the first time...he was crawling up the glass and his arms blocked his view of me entering the room, so when i turned the corner he got startled(opps). he only retreated a few inches before realizing it was me though.

Make sure you do a decent size water change anytime he inks. It can kill him in a closed system.

i did a water change, no worries :) though with the protien skimmer/pre filter in the tank i dont think it would cause any trouble. beter safe than sorry though.

If it's still in the system, it can kill him. You might want to get disposable prefilters or at least some that are cheap enough to throw away.

as far as i have been told (on tonmo) it would only pose a thret to him if it coated his breathing area. perhaps i have been misinformed? i did however clean my re-usable prefilter afterwards to be safe. iv taken all the percoutions but thanks for your concern :)

i gave fluffy his first piece pf scallop a little wiel ago and man did he get exsited when his saw that big chunk(a little larger than a a 1 inch cube). hes used to getting three to five 1-2inch slim silver siders.
he started "flashing" color and and swiftly pulled it off of the stick crawling to the back of the tank protecting he feast lol

that is so cool... i wonder when someone else will get a octo. its only a matter of time because you are making my want one... my 80 gallon bowfront is looking mighty temping right now...

as excited as he was about the large chunk of meat, he seemed to have to much trouble eating it. he spent a good long time biting at it but he he let it go. their didn't seem to be allot missing from the piece of scallop but he certainly gave it a good go, it was chewed at all over and almost in two pieces. ill give him another smaller piece tommarow just to make sure though.
