Less then 24 hrs ago i had to do a massive water change, all my fish are doing ok, except for one, a general american cichild, hes laying upside down on the bottom but still breathing, is he going to make it or should i put him down? I hate to see him suffer

I am not sure what a 'general' american cichlid is.
but if you feel you need to put it down you probably should.

what happened where you needed to do a massive water change? was the cichlid not doing well then?

did you find out what caused the issue for a massive water change?
what constitutes a massive water change? how much volume of the tank?

I as as I frequently do 50%+ water changes with no ill effect to my fish.

Crazy

well id idnt want to bore anyone with the details but i had a crazy ***** in my house, who tossed a golf at me while i wasent paying attention, i went to catch it, missed and it cracked my 55 gal.
Despite the mess, i had another 55 but not up and running, ****!
I didnt even have anytime to save some of the leaking water from the cracked tank, now another concern it how should i punish this 25 yrd old? put her in the cracked tank?

when was the last time you did a water change?
the only way that could have caused an ailment is in Old Tank Syndrome.

well it's just these kinds of 'little' details that help decide a course of action.
quite possibly the cichlid could be the first victim if the tank is cycling again.
were you able to move the media from the old tank to the new tank?

as for punishment..your course of action should be discussed between the two of you.
possibly pay for damages? or work out some other restitution.:22_yikes:

Yeah I seem to have eveything under control now
I lost both of my Electric blues, my pleco and a jack dempsy, which hurts but at least i still have some. The others seems to be thriving well
Yeah i added most of the media from my cracked tank into the new one, at the same time
She offered me $400 i'll probably take it

Sorry to hear about the fish that did not make it......but glad to hear that things are ok now!
