is there any reason that my live rock (once shades of purple and green), is turning a golden brownish color???

Have you checked your lighting recently (age and intensity)? Did you already go through your diatom explosion?

tanks about 4-5 months old......not sure if these pics will help, but one is what most of the rock USED to look like...and the other is what most look like now

Looks like diatoms to me. They are typical in a newly cycled tank. How is your flow? And on the lights if bulbs aren't replaced on a good schedule they can cause problems like this.

I've got 2 powerheads, a hang on filter, and a hang on protein skimmer so the flow should be enough for this sized tank

as for the bulbs, they are no more than a week old, or are you talking about replacement issues BEFORE this new lighting set up?

all that being said...is this going to be a problem??? and how do I fix this??

Since there are so many variables on equopment, how many gph does that add up to?

And yes, I was talking about before the new lighting. The diatoms will go away on their own on a new tank, but on a year old tank the source will need to be addressed.
