Mafia #14 -- The Play

Yeah, sorry. That should be DJ. Too many shortened names. I've updated my spreadsheet.

DP has already voted, so he won't be a UD even if he doesn't make another post during this day.

DJ was a major slip up, but the whole mafia sacrifice thing is out the window now. So was it a slip or a newbie goof. I think a lot of people really jumped on him way too early today.

I've started voting earlier than I used to, but it's been about 3 hours since the beginning of the day and there are already three votes for DJ. It just makes me nervous.



Yeah, I thought about that while I was typing the thing... hence the I hate weird roles statement.

I agree with the weird roles. I wish we could have them explained in the signup thread.

I had a quick vote for DJ, I like to vote early, but I also am very open minded and subject to change on this vote. I would like to see some sort of input from DJ. I am also uncomfortable with DP voting for DJ, since I think DP is mafia.

I will not be stubborn or hard headed.

I do not think until the "slip" that HN was on DJmajor. I think he also was the first to point out it could be suspicous and a way to get votes off of Charlie.

I can agree with that but we now know that this thought was flawed because Charlie wasn't Mafia he was one of us so why would the mafia try to attract attention to one of their own for the sake of a townie..

I also do not want to stay to focused on DJ or DP, while I think they could be mafia, it could just be game play. I need to keep an open mind.

I am not even concentrating on one of them as I think it was a newbie slip up.. The other one I'm not sure about. He just seems strange all around.

Judgemax is a good canidate, it is a hard read at times. She also seems to get very narrow minded and one tracked.

The thing that really gets me about the Judge is that list.. That stupid flipping list. The Judge has supposedly played many games and someone I would not consider a newbie.. I'm still quite new at this and I even know that you don't post a list without some sort of justification. People jumped all over DJMajor today for that very thing but by and large it was let go with the Judge.

Lady G is sure good at keeping everyone confused, but this game she has been better at just not typing stuff.

And I have never played with her before but from what I have read before I ever played and what exposure I have had in this game it is supposedly a great mafia tactic. Thats why I'm trying to peal this apart like the layers of an onion.

I also want to point out, that most of us were very sure of Charlie's guilt. If anything, this has me a little concerned about DP and DJ. They both seem guilty, almost too guilty. My vote on DJ stands and I would like to see them reply. I did not see an explaination to the whole "hit" slip.

Very true.. And I can see where his play had a lot to do with it.. But I know I was affected by other peoples input.. HN in large part.. That whole not answering to the ABC post was a good share of that.

I want to see how DJmajor acts when there is some heat on. I guess this is my attempt in "kicking weasels".

Speak up DJmajor, what do you have to say for yourself, my hairy friend (for charlie). Who is your Don, who are you going to hit next? Are your teamates mad at you for slipping. You know in the mafia, a slip of the tongue and you wind up in deep shhhhh, well you get the idea. You might want to confess before they hit you! They are allowed to hit their own.

I agree with that.. As the behavior was very strange. But like I said right now I don't want to concentrate on what I feel is a diversionary tactic unless I'm completely off base.

Thanks for that Mad, I was about to ask if someone had a final count. I'm off to eat a late dinner (parent-teacher conferences are this week and I don;t get om e'til late), then I will be back to read more carefully and post something a bit more "substantial." ~brandy

Whoa, weird turn of events, but it makes sense with his posts. It's too bad we lost HN, because he's always really good at harassing mafia and I was looking forward to get good lynch picks from him. So the whole DJ thing...Is he really playing so badly as to give himself away? For now it seems like a pretty safe bet.

I vote to lynch DJ.

It's kinda hard to judge by voting record who is what right now, since Chas was acting so funny that it made it easy for the mafia to jump on him.

Hey DC, how about using a little of your own brainpower to determine some lynch picks... Bala helps those who help themselves. You wouldn't be trying to blame your Chas vote on Hooked Newbie by any chance, would you?

One last thing about Hooked's death. It very easily could be the mafia taking a shot at someone whose list is totally full of innocents in order to throw us off their trail. Now who would want us off their trail?

It's Day 2 now, cooldude. You got thru all of Day 1 without having a single post of any substance. Time to start at least looking like you're trying to find mafia. If not, your gonna get thumped....

Wow OK I have finally caught up with todays postings and went over HN posts from yesterday and today.. If he was hit because he was onto something then this is what I saw..

HN(RIP Innocent Townie Friend) really was on Charlie (RIP Innocent Townie Friend) and the Judge.. Those were the two who he really was applying the screw gun to... so to speak. He did question Lady G on her "questionable" postings and had a few exchanges with Blue questioning her on some of her posts. But by and large he concentrated his efforts of the first two people. Today he wasn't real pressing as I feel he was convinced (as we all were) that his vote was in the right place. In fact I think he even stated that once or twice.

So if we follow this train of thought that DJMajor was a diversion could it necessarily be assumed that he was a diversion for the Day 1 vote (which we now know had to be false because we lost two townies) but can we theorize that it might be a diversion for the Day 2 vote because he was close?

Some of you have posted that you thought that HN's list consisted of the following and I think I have listed them in the order of his concern. If you really look at his messages and who he was pressing to get their mafia vibe this is it. Or am I completely off base here?

While I have been in two games realistically I only have IRL about 4 days worth of play under my belt so I really am technically a newbie at this myself. With my vote and suspicions cast for Charlie yesterday I am going to take more of a questioning role over the next game day because while I thought I knew how to play I'm starting to feel like a horses rear.

It's a numbers game, so a diversion makes no sense to me at any time..... In every game people bring up that 'so-and-so is the mafia's sacrificial lamb.' Pretty sure that there's never been a sacrificial lamb in any mafia game.

Thats why I'm asking questions. I don't know if the type of tactic I was talking about would off base or not.. You guys have wayyyy more experience that this than I do. While I can surmise what a mafia tactic might be I do know that in all games people have a tendency to follow established/proven tactics. I know I do when I play paintball. So is the one you listed, or the one I listed normally used by the mafia? Has anyone even tracked this sort of thing in the other games?
