2 year old daughter

Yup not much you can do about that.
I would get Red Tail tinfoil Barbs cause they look great and are pretty hardy

I am sure that I'm wrong but it seems that cichlids have the best personality but are not that colorful & different shapes. Not counting African cichlids I hear that they are too aggressive for me

go with Barbs they come in many different sizes and colors and are semi aggressive.

just googled

TIN FOIL BARBS? they get HUMONGOUS, they make 90 gallon tanks look tiny!
haha

a fancy goldie, but then it would have to ditch any cichlids, and just go with tetras and a goldie, nice, colorfull, and peacefull, maybe even some mollies, or platys, and early is a good time to teach kids to not hit the glass.

Fancy goldfish are peaceful, colorful/beautiful, ACTIVE and have a lot of personality, you could get a few for your tank depending on the species, but the only fish I know thats really good to mix with them are white cloud minnows so the tank is pure cold water. Their a great choice if you stick with only them, they run about $15 a piece in my lfs. Nobody really understands how pretty they are unless you have them, i love the ones with long flowy tails. They don't get spooked easy and I don't think mine would care if I poke the glass because im always up in his face anyways lol

Heres mine, he doesnt have the tail, but hey he's just a carnival fish survivor. He goes crazy at the front glass and greets me when I walk in the room. Im going to put him in my friends pond soon with his carnival fish brother lol

this will depend somewhat on the environment they are kept in and you can always sell them back if they out grow your tank :)

I saw a lot of beautiful goldfish at the store. Many different varieties. I always thought that goldfish were mindless though , prob wrong
