FS/FT: Blue Crayfish (michigan)

I was thinking about it but the catch comes with having to put a guarantee on them. Shipping using anything but overnite service would have a zero guarantee. Shipping using overnite service I was thinking of giving a doa guarantee BUT for replacement only. Shipping costs would still all be on the buyer which more than likely it wouldn't be worth having to repay shipping again to get the replacement/s. I have a few small plastic jars that would work nicely for the crays for transport. I don't have any o2 lying around so the water and air in the jar would be the only thing the crays would have for the trip. So I dunno.

I'll post this again. Crayfish CAN be placed with other fish. It just depends on the fish. If you have fish that stay on the bottom then more than likely they will be gone. The crayfish own the bottom area. They also climb. So use caution with sucker type of fish that sit on rocks, ornaments, etc. Pleco are fine BUT they must be good sized. Mine is around 7 inches and thinks he owns the tank. If a crayfish is trying anything with him on the bottom then he's pretty powerful and swats them away. Small pleco are NOT recommended, which I found out the hard expensive way. They WILL get nabbed, just a matter of time. Fish size doesn't always matter. What matters more is where they hang out or hide at. My smallest fish are the clowns and kribs. The clowns sometimes get nabbed but its because clowns are pretty lazy (at least mine are) and just sit around. My pictus catfish is probably just under 4" and does stay on the bottom a lot but he's always on the move. I have a sunken ship in the tank and him along with the pleco share the space inside and kick out any crayfish that try to enter. Remember I've got adults in my main tank, the young ones pose less of a threat to tank mates, but on the other hand they themself might be considered the meal instead.
 
I've got small and large fish and have no problems. Like I said before, bottom dwelling fish are at the most risk. Even pleco's are at risk unless they are big. The crayfish own the bottom. If a fish is stupid enough to float right down in front of the cray or just sits in one spot while a cray sneaks up to it, then it may get grabbed. Usually the cray swinging his claw is enough to make the fish dart off before the cray actually gets a chance to grab hold.

I never got into shipping them. I was thinking about it at one time but thats as far as that got. I never started doing it. If you want to be the first then I might be willing to try it out. However, no guarantees unless they are sent via overnite express. That is pricey, expect around $25 if not more for that. Otherwise priority mail would be the other choice but I wouldn't be able to provide a guarantee because of the length of time in transit.

If you only want "one" then overnite express would be too costly. You'd be better off buying them from the local fish store. So priority would be the way to go to keep the cost low but you'd assume all risk in case its doa.
