I just saw a picture of a golden xanto. :22_yikes:Wow! How cool.:jaw:

Two questions for everyone here:

1. Is there an online resource that tells what all the "L" pleco are and discribes them?

2. Does anyone know where I could get a golden xanto?

Good idea. Thank you. I tried Aquabid but with no luck at this time. I will be keeping a close eye though.

Do you believe that this is the correct name for the fish? I looked it up at planetcatfish in their cat-e-log, but with no success. Is this a bristlenose??????

Not an ancistrus. Parancistrus would be my guess.

Edit: I think I do remember a thread in Plecofanatics saying xantos do not have L-numbers.:)

Why would that be? How would I be sure to get one like in the picture? Any ideas?
Ask Plecofanatics.:D You can always look into Planetcatfish.com for images to compare their looks.

The picture from Plecofanatics is in the Parancistrus section, so it looks as though Lupin's right. I believe they're calling it a "xanto" because it's a xanthic specimen (i.e. greatly reduced colouration- not a true albino because it's got black eyes and yellow rather than pink). Searching through Parancistrus might help, but bear in mind most of the specimens pictured will be normally coloured.
