I f you read my other posts, you know that my glass catfish has ich. So I bought some Jungle brand Ich Guard II and have dosed twice so far. right now temperature is 76 degrees fahrenheit. any tips on speeding up removal of ich from my tank? thanks.

I treated my Ich using heat only; no medicines or salts. The advice I received was 85* or higher and make sure you increase the oxygen in the tank as the higher temperatures will decrease the amount of oxygen in the water.

Ditto in the increased temperature. Make sure though that you increase to 84 Fahrenheit (84 Celsius not a good idea :grinno:). Also, don't increase the temperature too quickly as that could stress the fish and compound your problem. You may want to look into adding an air pump. As the water temperature goes up the oxygen saturation goes down. I'd also suggest increasing the frequency of your water changes as this will cut down the number of free-swimming Ich parasites. Vacuuming the gravel would help as well because part of the Ich life-cycle takes place in the gravel. You may consider varying the fish's diet by supplementing with frozen/freeze dried foods in order to boost the immune system and stress resistance of the fish.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow! Thanks for all the stuff, especially drzais. I WILL keep you posted, so here is...
FOOD: I feed them Hikari flake Tropicl, Nutrafin Max sinking complete food tablets for bottom feeders and inverts, HBH frog and tadpole bites (for froggy) freeze-dried bloodworms, freeze-dried tubifex worms, and my LFS manufactures its own tropical flake and spirulina flake. I alternate depending on the day of the week, so they get variety.
PUMP: I have an air pump, it is a Tetra Whisper 10. with 1 airstone!
HEATER: Hagen Elite mini submersible 5.
mmmkay so..I twist the dial a little for the heater....now I wait for it to raise!!
thanks!!!

i agree with Ruben. i don't even crank the temp up, just use salt and it works great
