Hard to get suspected dead turbo snail..

Well the title says it all, I wont' get into specifics, but I have reason to believe that one of my turbo snails is dead and is in a very hard to reach area. I don't think I'll be able to reach it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with it decaying in the tank? Kind of a bummer here.

I also just removed another dead one I found but something really weird happened. The insides fell out and there was this big worm looking thing violently shaking the snails remains, it made my fiance gag and leave the room.. lol. What the heck was that thing? It reminded me of that scene in "Species" where they try to propagate an alien. Anywho..

So the dead snail isn't affecting the tank yet, I just want to be prepared.

Oh yeah, for some reason my other turbo's have ceased activity. My astrae's and margharita's are all still on the move and everything else seems the be going great... what the heck is going on?

Yuck! I wish I could help but that's just strange I felt I had to comment! Good luck with that though... kinda sad

Some snails can and do die unexpectantly, and we cant find a reason why some of the time. As for leaving it in the tank, it will get consumed by the rest of the clean up crew so i would not worry about it at all mate. As for the other one (the worm), what i have just said is exactly that, the clean up crew doing what it does best..Can you describe the worm for us?

Can you describe the worm for us?

Sure thing. It was about 1/2 inch on one end (the end consuming the snail), and about 1/4 inch on the other, the overall length was about 2 1/2 inches and it was maroon in color. It fell out of the shell hanging onto the snail meat when I grabbed the shell to remove it. It kept twisting violently around the snail insides when I was trying to remove it.... we just threw it in a bag and tied it up tight and threw it away.. It was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.. and majorely gross. Like I said before, my fiance gagged and bolted for the bathroom.. lol

like niko said you don't need to worry about the dead snail as your clean up crew will take care of the body. as for the worm, they can be pretty alarming to see for the first time - i sure remember my first

So that worm was something normal? Holy crap that thing was wild.

ya the worm was normal - im not to familiar with worms so maybe someone else can help you more. usual we see bristle worms, flat worms and peanut worms in our tanks. try searching those and see if you can id it
