Bubble Wand... Good or Bad?

Thanks everyone! It actually looks really good I think It's better than a background or just boring black... I plan on taking it out once my 2nd powerhead gets here... I have lot of surface agitation and what not it's more of just a looks thing... and now the crabs love it so I think they might be mad if I took it away and it wasn't hurting them! Thanks for the advice though I'll definately remove it once the powerhead gets here and find something else pretty to put along the back... more rock I guess...

Bubblewands are as bad as "sunken ships" and other tacky, fake ornaments, imo. And the salt creep in a marine tank from a bubblewand would be a nightmare. :P

Ohh I guess I should take my sunken ship and treasure chest out now as well, As to not force my "tackiness" upon anyone...

Thank you to the helpful replies! Greatly appreciated!

I tried this once on my previous tank almost four years ago.. It caused HUGE problems with salt creep on my tank edges, lights and hood. It was next to impossible to keep up with and I think was a causal factor in my first tank going south.

JME..

Bubble curtain has officially gone to "tacky" heaven... and has been replaced by a powerhead! It's a Zoo Med Powersweep 214... I also have a Aqua Clear 50 filter in there too so hopefully that will be enough water movement and oxygen in there... the fish seem to be hiding though... maybe I should turn it down a bit? How do I kind of adjust for that? my tank is a 29 gal, I have 2 damsels and a clarkii... hopefully some corals and a bubbletip soon! help?

Don't worry. Just give the fish time and I can assure you that they will get used to it. My fish love the flow in my tank and I have MUCH more than what you currently have. They get even more in the ocean--just look at some videos of fish swimming against the currents.

From my experinece the bubble wands just make a big mess in the tank. I don't know if it's a SW thing, but I would bet that your whole tank is gonna be filled with tiny bubbles within 1 minute of plugging those things in. It looked really bad in my tank.

Good move; just give the fish some time, you don't have too much water movement for them.

you'll probably find out before long however that the powersweeps are junk, and you'll find your self replacing it. But you've got the right idea.
