Well, Sunday is always tank maintenance day. I got my python out and hooked it up to the faucet... turned on the water... and literally ended up getting a shower. My python broke. Is this normal? Any recommendations on replacement? Do they make it in brass? I had to do the bucket thing and I was not very happy about it, to say the least! I don't want to have to do it AGAIN. Help! Here's a picture of the disaster:

Mine did the same thing. They have a website, just google it, and do sell replacement parts.
I ended up buying two because I have to go about 70 ft from the nearest connection.

As far as being normal, yeah it is. That is the weakest piece and the part that we put the most pressure on.

You can still use it as a siphon hose without the pump part. I haven't used that part of it for many years. I found that it wasted too much water and took too much time for what it was worth. I siphon out the water I want to remove then connect the end of the hose to the faucet to fill it back up.

What a drag. I've only had it for 3 months. I'd have thought after paying $50 for the darn thing that I wouldn't have any problems with it right away. Thanks though. I'll get googlin'.

Hmmm. I tried figuring out a way to hook it up to the faucet without that part to at least fill the tanks, but it doesn't fit my faucet. I'll have to play around with it. Considering I don't have a vehicle and my boyfriend hates driving me anywhere *rolls eyes* it could be a while before I can get to a pet store to get a replacement. I'll likely end up ordering online but we all know how long that takes! The bucket thing really sucks for putting water back in. It's not so bad for taking water out but lifting it in and out of the tub/or sink is killer on a girl. LoL

if you have a petsmart nearby, they sell that part. print out the online price to bring into the store and it's about 40% cheaper.

yeah...you should be able to screw the brass adaptor in the faucet and then screw the hose right on to it and fill the tank.... I drain my tank out the door into the back yard so I never use it to drain.

Only problem hooking it right to the faucet to fill will be adjusting the water temp ....with the adaptor I leave it on drain and use a digital thrometer to adjust the water temp the same as my tank water....without it might get pretty tricky unless you can figure out where your faucet handles need to be to get the temp pretty close....or use a thrmometer at the fill end as it is going into the tank and make adjustments as needed to get it close before it gets too full.
