From what I understand the cost and daily maintenance on a tank like that can rival a simple FOWLR set up.

I jumped into SW without any measurable FW experience. Actually, I'm going in reverse...since we just picked up a used 55g tank that my wife declared will be our new FW tank. I thought it would make a good sump for my 210, but I was corrected. So after the 55 FW is set up, I'm going to try my hand at a goldfish bowl. :grinyes:
"Jumped" is probably a bad choice of words...it took me 2 years to get to the point where I was comfortable enough to try and put water in it, even then I realized just how much I still needed to learn. I'm sure there are things I could've done better, but I've had pretty good success so far. We'll just say mistakes have been made, people have been punished
