wanna know something...i had a cold about 7 years ago. a virus. 3 days later i couldn't believe that i smelled almost nothing. an ear/nose/throat specialist told me he's seen it many times and happens from this virus. i lost i'd say 80% of my smell, what i did smell was a DIFFERENT smell from what is normal. it damages some major nerve going to the brain. pepsi tasted horrible, cigarette smoke smelled weird etc..., almost everything. it's been 7 years, and they said nerves take a LONG time to heal, but i can smell everything now, just not quite exactly how it used to be on all things, many are back to the way it used to be and many foods taste the way it was, so i'd say i'm 75% back to normal. it's decent enough that i can live the rest of my life like this quite happily. some can't smell or taste at ALL, some from this virus get facial paralysis or blindness. i was lucky. i had to explain that...
