I've never heard of a yellow spot pleco....although there is a gold nugget pleco (baryancistrus sp.) and if thats what it is, they don't grow that fast, I have one. Heres a picture of my guy, is this what yours looks like? If thats what it looks like then its a gold nugget pleco. They are very shy until they become really adjusted to their new home and environment but then they're pretty active, atleast thats how mine was. I feed mine algae wafers, and shrimp pellets. I do put a slice of blanched zucchini in there for my bristle nose pleco but i'm not sure if the gold nugget eats it or not. Also, some sites on the net say they need wood in there diet too, but i'm not sure if it is necessary... i have some in my tank just in case. They need really good water conditions as well!! Theres different kinds of GNs and some can get to be a foot long, apparently you can tell which one is which by the size of their spots but i've tried with mine and i can't tell if it has small or medium sized spots because every site says something different. Hope this helps...
Post a picture when you can. I am very curious about what the pleco looks like too since I have not heard of a yellow spot ancistrus. There is a yellow spot an L262 but it is not ancistrus.
