How many gallons do kissing gouramis' need?

I read a lot of random stuff from 20 gallons all the way up to 75. I think the former is absolutely BS as I can't imagine a 12 inch fish living in a 20 gallon aquarium. Does anyone know how much I need for one fish and each additional fish after that?
 
Yeah, that sounds about right :thumbsup:
 
Remember that they grow to 10'' and are kinda aggressive. I agree with Lupin... 55+ gallons, and 60 gallons per fish...

You might consider some smaller type of gourami. If I was going to invest in a 300 gallon tank I wouldn't fill it with 5 kissing gourami's.

But a 20 gallon would hold 8 dwarf gourami's or honey gourami's at 2" each, with a couple of cory's to keep the bottom clean.

Big fish are a huge investment as I'm finding out. I have my heart set on clown loaches.

I wouldn't put clowns in anything less than a 120 Gallon tank. I kept some in a 55 but they outgrew it, not very fast but fast enough to get very attached to them and sucked to have to get rid of them. They rock! With a 120 you can keep them and when they outgrow it you can take it back to the LFS and "trade" them in for smaller guys. PPL love bigger clowns so someone will want them.
 
I prefer the longer 100s for more length to watch them glide around.
