Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what these guys eat. I've googled it and tried multiple things such as pellets, feeders, blood worms, and I feed flakes on a regular basis. The thing is, I never see this guy eat, EVER. He doesn't seem quite as healthy as when I got him (about a month ago) and I am concerned for his well-being. All my water parameters are acceptable so there should be no problem there.

Thanks in advance,
Renee'

Is he appearing skinny? Have you seen his wastes? What size is the tank? Tankmates? How big is he now? This eel is nocturnal so it would be best if you feed it a few minutes after switching off the lights.

He appears thinner then when I bought him. I have not seen his wastes. He is in a 45 gallon tank. His tank mates include a needlenose, angelfish, angelica botia, some large loach, hybrid pleco, a Jack Dempsey, and a couple of very unhappy tiger barbs.
He's about six and a half inches long. He has moments when he is very active during the middle of the day, but mostly he's been hiding motionless in the plants lately and not looking very well. The light is on a timer with a ten hour day period and I feed them with blood worms (flakes first to try to distract the others), about an hour before the light goes off.

The temperature's at 76 degrees. Do you mean increasing it to approximately 82? They are suppose to thrive between 73 and 82. I don't know what levimisole hydrochloride does. Can you please explain, sorry to be such a pest. I just really like the peacock eel and would like for him to do well. Thanks for your responses Lupin.

I did not say to increase to a specific temperature. Increase it to as much as the fish can tolerate. Warm temperature will increase his appetite. Make sure to switch on airpumps to ensure increased oxygen levels. As for levamisole hydrochloride, this thread should help you.:)

No need to apologize.:) I'm just trying what is best for your fish.:)

live canadian nightcrawlers.

not kidding.
take a live canadian nightcrawler and chop it into 1 inch chunks, then slice it into thin strips. drop it in the tank late in the evening. your peacock eels will LOVE it. especially if you store the nightcrawlers in the fridge with a little bit of garlic powder.
