Updated discus pics

Not so far, Deb. It seems to be happy where it is. I'm keeping a close eye to make sure it doesn't spread to any other areas of the tank. The snails graze it and it's not spreading fast so I'm gonna let it stay for the time being. Not sure of the species of algae it is.

I have a stunted discus in this tank that I rescued from one of my customers a couple years ago but he's spooky and refuses to pose for pics.

Do you deal in discus?

Great looking tank and excellent work!

Wow, beautiful job on the aquascaping, and those are some lovely discus. I saw some snails with shells like unicorn horns in the first picture: what kind are those. And did you pick them, or were they stowaways?

Not at this time, clayt. I've had a couple spawns but haven't set up breeder tank and grow-outs, yet. The little discus I rescued was from a customer whose tank I maintained. They had him in with some mbuna and he was stunted and very skinny. He's filled out but still the size of a 4 mo, old juvie, and will never get bigger.

Those are malasian trumpet snails, often called MTS. I introduced them into all my tanks because they're great at keeping algae in check and also crawl into the substrate, cleaning and helping to aerate it. I also keep pond snails and ramshorn snails in all my tanks. Thanks for the kind words.
