Questions about Coralife Single strip CFL strip

Hey everyone,

I finally got my 48" Coralife Single strip Freshwater Compact Flourescent Light for my 55 gallon for Christmas today. It has 130 watts. It also came with 2 24" Glass canopies to fit under the light strip.

I have a Walmart 55 gallon kit, and the glass is about 1/8" of an inch too big. The light strip also is about 1/8" of an inch too short to fit securely across the tank. It fits across the top, it just doesn't fit in the "secure" positions. I was thinking of getting a glass cutter and cutting the glass to fit. Would this be a good idea?

The single strip light won't be able to have adjustable legs put on it will it? My mom ordered some, but there doesn't seem to be a place to fit them.

One last thing, when I get my live plants tomorrow, should I leave the light in the middle of the tank, or far back against my HOB filters?

I have the same problem you do. I've got the "feet" that come on the coralife on the edges of my tank, and the glass I just barely managed to get in there. I've considered taking my dremel out to sand the edge down on one of them (one fits nicely, the other is really tight) so it will be a snug but not too tight fit. To be honest, when I was first fitting the light on the tank, I didn't realize that it was going to be shorter than the tank, and ended up dropping the end of it in the water. :wall::wall: Boy was I pissed... thankfully I got it cleaned up and working without electrocuting anyone/anything. Its a great light, you'll love it.
