i have an empty 20 gallon long tank and i want to get german blue rams.
i want them to eventually form pairs so i can try breeding them.
how many can i have in a 20?
whats the best substrate?
i currently have white pool filter sand and some smooth rocks in the empty tank.
i also wanted to have this be a planted tank..i really like the look of a carpeted bottom..what are some plants i could get?

any other information would be great!
thanks!

one pair in a 20
any substrate (sand or gravel) works fine
most "carpet" plants will need more light from what I hear though I have no experience with them. Are you going for high maintenence (Co2, more light, and ferts) or lowe maintenece (basically the opposite)?

i was actually on my way to the pet store right now to check the price ranges and see what i can afford.
i plan on doing co2 and ferts, and ill do some research on what other lightbulbs i can get.

Also, you may be out of luck finding a pair at the LFS, but if you buy 4-6 of them, you will almost certainly have success in some of them pairing off. Once they do, take the others back to the LFS for credit...
