I just wanted to share, cuz NOW I know what all the fuss is about! Oh My Gawd! I did a 50% water change on my 75 gallon tank in less than 30 minutes! AND, to me anyway, the best part is it actually is able to vacuum up the grah doo off the bottom that my syphon never can pick up. You know what I mean, the heavier bits of gunky plant matter/fish poo/food goo. I usually end up picking them up by hand. This tank is spanky clean now!

Oh and the other best part is I didn't have to pay for my Python! It was given to us by the wonderful person who gave us the SW tank we're working on! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't help thinking that if everyone who owned a fish tank had a python, there wouldn't be so many fish tanks for sale on CL. Maybe we should keep it a secret. ;)
 
Love my Python !!!

I run mine out the door to drain/vac my tank ...get alot more suction than with it attached to the faucet....then when ready to fill I hook to faucet adjust the water temp with an extra thermometer I have and start filling... I add my Prime into the water stream while filling for it to mix faster.
 
At first I thought it was a stupid gimmick when I was buying a gravel vac for my 10g.

Then when I went on vacation I bought the python for my fish sitter to use. I tested it out and fell in love, now I got one at each place I have tanks, and I wouldn't go without one ever again.

how do you do that? Please explain. I would love to di it since my front door is 10 feet away! so you do not need it hooked to the faucet?
 
Ah. The love of the python. It's great, I must agree. I did start shooting mine out the door too and that seems to have even more suction than the faucet. My only concern is the fact that I end up sucking up snails and plant bits that then get shot out into the yard (flower bed, actually). I find myself curious if this is a BAD thing considering you're not supposed to "release" snails/plants to the "wild."

If they're true aquatics, I doubt they'd survive long in your flower bed. :thud:
 
so, whaddya do, just open up the valve and yank it up and down in the water like a regular syphon to get it going? Or do you have someone (gullible) suck on it at the other end? :22_yikes::lol2:
