How often does every mess with there tank?

I use the magnetic cleaner daily, water change once a fortnight when tests are all done as well. I clean the powerheads on every water change and clean the pumps once a month. Top offs are done automatically but I fill the bucket as and when needed.

65gal Reef tank

Water top off: twice daily

Clean film algae from front and side glass: 2-3 times a week

Feed fish & corals: 2-3 times a week

Check and adjust alkalinity: 3 times weekly

Check and adjust calcium: weekly

Scrape coraline algae: every 1-2 weeks

Canister filter maintenance: Variable (currently experimenting with canister filter in a mechanical/chemical filtration configuration: Clean 100/50/25 micron filter pads 1-2 times weekly; replace 1 of 3 carbon filter bags (each containing 15 tablespoons of carbon, weekly); change out granular ferric oxide (GFO) media every 45 days).

Water changes: 30% about every 18-24 days (concurrent with stirring one-forth of sand bed for detritus removal).

Replace GFO in PhosBan reactor: previously about every 45 days but will now replace GFO when phosphate in effluent registers above 0.08ppm as measured with Hanna phosphate photometer.

Protein skimmer maintenance: foam tower (twice a week), skimmate cup (weekly), skimmer (every 2-3 months).

Powerheads cleaned about every 2 months.

How often do you check your params doing 7 month water changes and what size tank is it?

Hi waynecav.

To be honest I never check them. It's three 55's chained together with jumps. Making it about 150g. It has rock in all three and under gravel(crushed coral) filters. Nothing has been changed in about 12 years but water changes.

Probably I'm getting by on low loading. Two tangs, and some large angel looking fish, and a brown damsel.

Since I'm building a new system and bringing things up to date(a decade forward); I did test my Nitrate two weeks ago. It was about 175 x 2 x 2 = 700 ppm as far as I could extrapolate it, from a CUBE Test kit. I changed out 64 g but haven't retested.
