I am frustrated with my CRS inablity ot produce for me. I have 10 from 2 different breeders. Obvious Males and Females. All I have owned for 8 months. I have yet to have a female show some berries. I have read countless threads and web sites. I have tried dosing iodine and not.

My water params are this: 80 f, 6 Nitate, 0 Nitrite, 0 Am, 7.35 pH, .5 ppm iron, 0 copper, 0 chl, 22 ppm C02, 4 dkh. I have added natural tannins (oak leaf var.), and I do not dose excel.

I do not have any predators in my tank. I have 2 Balloon Rams (as docile as can be), 10 Cardinals (aclimated to the pH), snails, 2 true SAE's. Many plants and hiding places. In fact they are some of the reddest CRS I have seen. (I am trying to get pics).

But I am wondering if it could be something in their diet. I feed sparingly. Every other day I feed a smorgesboard of TetraMin variety wafers, Tetra Color Bits, Tetra Micro Crabs, Aquadine Spirilia,and on occasion frozen bloodworms.

There are many issues to be addressed here. Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS) are very picky about their environment when it comes time for breeding. Your water is FAR to warm. They prefer it to be around 70-72. Your pH is to high, they prefer it to be around 6.5.

The rams are natural predators of shrimp, so they are making the shrimp nervous even if they are not trying to eat them.

Now if you are talking about RCS (Red Cherry Shrimp) your water is okay for them, I would drop the temps down a bit, and the Ram comments stand true. SAE's also tend to make shrimp nervous!
 
i would have to agree that your temp is a little high. i keep mine at 76. my ph is about the same as yours and I also feed every other day. i've only had cherries for about a month and a half and i already have at least 2 berried. so the only thing i can think of that could be affecting them would be your temp and the fact that there are fish present.
 
cherry shrimp do fine in a temp of 80. I have them in my community tank and they are reproducing like crazy. My shrimp in my community tanks like to hide out. I think you should set up an invert only tank ;)

most of these shrimp do prefer cooler temps 72-78 i have 5 different tanks of them and the ones in with my dwarf puffers don't really like the 80 degree temps they do much better in the cooler tanks, most of them don't have heaters in there so they range from 72 to 75 and they really breed like wild.. i have cherrys and yellows and greens and oranges, but the cherrys in the higher heat tanks are breeding slower than the rest..JMO.:)

I raise some cherry reds and some crystal reds all so , i have each group in the own tanks . and i have jave moss in the tanks. temp is 75 and i feed mine the crab and lobster bites by HBH. and i aslo feed diff other things.so that they get a mix of items.so i hope u have good lucky ..karen

Easy for you to say....I see you're setup is bigger than my LFS!
