Pictures and a question

Normally I wouldn't ask, but after what you've shared about your LFS....are they testing the water with a dip stick or liquid tests? And you should be QTing fish before putting them in your display. I agree that adding a group of fish is prudent with some types of fish but in general I don't think it is necessary or even wise.

Is this a good test kit?
See any problem with setting QT this way?

Thanks

I used that kit when I first started out and there was a huge difference once I switched over to API. I'm not sure if it was my kit specifically or just the kit in general, but not one I would currently use.

Stupid fish, So i purchased a coral beauty put in a QT with two pieces of Dead rock so it would have a hiding place. He knocked one piece over while I was at work and crushed himself. Not even sure how he managed because I did everything I could to make sure it was secure and wouldn't fall on him.

Im sorry to hear that but you should never have anything but basic equipment and pvc tubing in a QT tank. This way the ick or other bacteria cant burrow into the pores of the rock.

lesson learned. He was just freaking out so much when I put him in the tank and that was all i could think of to calm him down. which it did for two days. I will deffinatly try the PVC. I had also planned to wash the rock in hot tap water and let it dry to kill anything before i put them back into main tank.
