Angels in Odds or Evens

i disagree about the idea that raising angels with small tetras will keep the tetras from being eaten. of course, not all fish have the same tendencies, but when i purchased my angels they were a little bigger than a quarter. i added them to a 55g tank which had a dozen feeder guppies in there, about the size of small neons, and the four of them hunted down and killed every guppy in less than a day. they didn't eat them, just chewed them up and spit them back out. once the guppies were dead the angels could care less. this was on top of them being fed 3-4 times a day. maybe mine are just especially evil and bloodthirsty, but i wouldn't risk trying to add neons. there are larger tetras that not only are less appealing to angels (I keep von rio flame tetras with no problems) but overall healthier and more likely to live in your tank. neons seem to die very easily even without the threat of being eaten.

As said there is never a guarantee with combining any two fish. But this has happened before multiple times, so there is a trend for it.

maybe but I always include a disclaimer.
as there are as many if not more cases where the small fish got attacked or eaten.
a trend does not make it a difinitive case.
;)

I am not sure there are more cases of the opposite. Either way people need to know that not every angel is the same and not every setup is the same.
