I'm going to be setting up a 75gal in the next few months, and am pondering what fish to put in it. I most likely will have to move a featherfin syno into it from my 38. I'm planning on using a RUGF with eheim canister(s) for filtration. I was thinking of either adding an oscar or possibly some species of Datnoid. I know some of the dats are brackish, and some aren't. I also know that the featherfin will get big enough to hold its own against either fish. If I get the oscar small, I think it will get along with the syno until they are both big.

Maybe the least brakish dat will get along/survive with the syno? Also, in the case that they DO get along okay, would some dither fish be a good idea? Silver dollars, or do they get too big for this tank setup?

I was also wondering about some potted plants, or plants that won't root into the UGF plate.

Does anyone have any advice?
thanks in advance

Silver dollars are fine. I'd prefer severums or uarus instead of oscars or datnoids. If you want plants, the silver dollars and severums are bound to rip them. Java ferns though are totally fine.

You could also keep plants in containers to minimze rooting issues.
