My stock. Just wondering if I might have overdone it

i would take out the silver dollars. not only do they get to 6 inches long, but they are schooling fish and will mow down your plants in no time.

:) Diid you read what I saaidd jjmm?? :eek3: They can't reach 6 inches, no ways! About 5 inches should be max. Look at this 25 year old silver dollar video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpDCXndjs-M

Scroll down to some comments and the guy will say bob the SD is at 5 inches. At age 25. Wow. Btw they seriously do not mow down my plants at all cost. cmon jm, dun be so judgyy!!

there is more than one kind of silver dollar, and as for bob the SD, who knows what kind of conditions he has been kept in throughout his life.

p.s. - my friend's cousin is on youtube having a roman candle shoot-out with his buddy. not everything on there is a good idea.

not only that, but your neons and danios could be lunch, as well as any platy fry. SD's are partly herbivores, but mostly opportunistic.

Also if you look, somehow the fish grew 1 1/2" in 5 months after living for 25 years...interesting...

:headshake2: My Sd's do not dare try to eat the neons and danios! :( and my platies are all males =_=. All SD's have personality, man. You don't even know my SD's;yet talking like they are boisterous crazy gobblers when you haven't seen them act with peace and love. The only time they freak out is when they are in sudden light;but, that helps the poop fly around and get sucked up by the filtration*sarcastic*just kiddin'. I have a 10 gallon fry/hospital tank so get your worries out! . :mad2: I have hornwort to help get the frys attached as well so yeah.

Since everything seems okay, the "word" hasn't been spilled up, so my guess is that my tank is good.

I will do partial water changes about every 2 or 3 weeks and check up on water parameters and such. So far everything is greattt :) Need some more plants, thats what I need

ya Silver dollars are schoolin fish so you would woant more of those, personally i would get rid of the sd's and get like 5 more corys

so this begs the question. . . . why bother asking if you were just going to disagree with the suggestions you've been given?

Yea, you should get rid of the SDs, everyone here is saying that for a reason... their "personalities" don't have anything to do with whether they'll eat small fish or ruin plants etc... also, you'll need to do a water change every week, certainly not every 2-3

:iagree: There are quite a few different type of SD's and many do max out a little over 5 inches.

DO I have to remind you NeonFlux that you did ask us to be honest?

I'm going against the odds...Why Sd's are okay with my small fish. Grrr.

They don't necessarily need to be in schools at all. Less SD's you have, the less problems you might are going to encounter. I choose 2 at least because thats just "enough" in my opinion so they can be friends.

just because they don't do it now, doesn't mean they won't later.

just because you think you know all about Sd's using their mouths, will mean they will eat them whole instantly. Mine might have already obtained full size already and I doubt they will feast on them considering I feed all of them regularly. SD's are peaceful at will, know it! And believe me, mine are good. You, are a cory fishkeeper at heart, I would believe you would do anything to defend them as well.

Fish obsession, thats your opinion of water change... I don't need to water change once a **** week when I frankly have enough filtration 120 gallons of water in my mere "55 gallon" , which i call "Tration overkill" enough already. i was supposed to have only 70 gallons of filtration, but I thought mind as well use the other 205 canister so it would make my filtration even better. And including the live plants I have, what more filtration can you ask for?so whats the deal now? One annoying day of busy water change every week? or, we all can get a life and do it like once every two weeks or three weeks like the rest of us? I can't stand doing it every once a week. My parents will freak out if I do. I plan to do once every 2 weeks. My excuse for 3 weeks are for when I'm occupied with studying, might have to lessen the feeding. Issues, issues, issues.

Did you read the scientific name of my SD's?It could be either Metynnis argenteus or Metynnis hypsauchen. I am absolutely positive that my SD's are argenteus. 5 inch as max. Mine are about 3 and a half, near 4 inch. 5 inches isn't so bad. If they do get bigger than 5 inches, okay, Im convinced, I'll definitely take them out for sure. I find it horribly odd that this professional old lady in about.com said they are to be in a 20 gallons. link: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/characins2/a/silverdollar.htm

As for your other question...:D IM GOING AGAINST TEH ODDS that SD's can live together peacefully with small fish.

:) *sigh* A certain someone recommended me small fish to tell you guys the truth...,neon tetras to be exact, with my two SD's. So I took him/her for granted, listened to him and got the neon tetra fish and researched peaceful small fish and achieved them, they all look so great and peaceful together, and posted to make exact sure my tankload is okay. THEN whaa!? now this with the SD's going to too big and eat my small fish!? My mind is going to explodeeeeee dudee:wall:

Lupin, defend me, yeah...?Or are you gonna selfishly leave me behind?? :(

please ¬_¬;;;

*Wields a gigantic silver color shield edged with red* :headbang2:

I call upon...FLAAAME SHIEEELLDDDD...! Master gamer, help me out too! you have a puzzle figured out already dont you?hahaha Lol, =). Btw, what's with ignoring me when i wanna buy your live plants!??!:) huh?!?!I need some java moss and java fern! lol I think it's becuz you don't trust my SD's,eh? heh whatvahs, whatevahs...~ <_< sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so far after typing all this debate on SD size and such, it has really taken up my time to go buy some fishy stuff at petsmart, sadly.......
