the shrimps are fine. my tang still is battling the ich...im taking out all my inverts tomorrow and going hypo (salinity)

you're still going to kill other good things in your tank that can't hold up to hyposalinity. Thus why we encourage any treatment - be it medicinal or hyposalinity - in a qt tank.

Mandy is right...hyposalinity is going to do a number on your sand and rock.

I was in a LFS today and saw the Clout product. On the back of the box it says not to use the product with live rock, invertebrates, etc. Definitely not reef safe.

I would definitely recommend removing the fish to a QT tank for hyposalinity treatment. Keep the carbon running. I'm not convinced that 1 day of running carbon will remove all of the medication. I would also recommend regular water changes. Live rock is like a sponge. That medication can get in all its pores and it takes time to get out.

That's a shame. Could you perhaps point him to the label on the box as pointed out by dolfans1? If not satisfied, let him experiment the Clout on a tank containing a few ghost shrimps. See for himself how the shrimps will react. The Trichlorfon aka Masoten in most countries is the likeliest culprit in the demise of invertebrates. Maybe that will let him see the light.
