High Ammonia after 2 50% w/c

Last test my G/F took showed a .25ppm. I'll find some media and put it in. No new fish in months and all fish are present and accounted for. Next stop plants. Just got a 65,000k light and Ill get some moss and some other plants.

ps thank you guys for all the help

Excellent, good to hear things are working out.

It's worth noting that two 50% water changes don't equal a 100% change. You may already know this, it's more for any newbies that find this thread later.

One 50% change takes everything to half of what it was.
Another 50% change takes it to half of that, 25% of the original.
Another 50% change takes it to half of that, 12.5% of the original.
Another 50% change takes it to half of that, 6.25% of the original.
And so on.

ammonia being present with nitrates being 0 pretty much screams "uncycled". something happened to your biofilter. move some media and/or gravel from another tank and keep your eyes on test results.

do u have a canister filter?? if so use Ammonia media, that helps my tanks!

I have a XP3. Ill try to pick some up this week. I used ammo lock today and I will use it again tomorrow. I wonder what could have caused it?
