well a few weeks after getting my new light. compact 80 watt. i have a crazey algea bloom. every kind of algea you can think of slime, hair and everything else. right now i have 2 turbo snails, 2 araster's, and 2 blue hermits. what should i add to get rid of all this algea. i have been using tap water but no more. the phos are around .25 in the tap water. thanks for any help.

What size is the tank and what are you using for water now?
What are your other readings?
What do you have for animals?
How long are you running your lights?
What kind of flow is there in the tank?

I agree more information is needed.

You need to start using water w/o phosphates.

That would be a great start. I can bet that .25 ppm is causing most of your algae problems to begin with. Hold off on the cleaner crew, get your hands ready for manual algae removal, and get that phosphate in line. If your tank is clean and relatively free of nutrients, added light should not result in appreciable algae growth beyond what you have. I agree with the others, however, in that you need to give some more info.

it is a 10gal, cal 500, kh 11, amm 0, ites 0, ates 20, phos .25, ph 8.4. the only thing i could think it could be would be the phos.
